It is the city’s most popular tourist attraction, this 17th-century masterpiece has been immortalized in various films until it is almost a required visit. Throwing a coin into the Trevi Fountain is a tradition that is supposed to assure your return to Trevi Rome. Rome’s largest fountain, Fontana di Trevi is supplied by an aqueduct constructed by Agrippa, the great art patron of the first century BC, to bring water to his baths. The fountain was made for Pope Clement XII between 1732 and 1751 by Nicolò Salvi. It depicts the sea God Oceanus (Neptune), tritons with horses and shells. The water swirls around the figures and the artificial rocks, and collects in a large basin, filled with coins.

This construction of this ancient Hippodrome was begun by Septimius Severus in AD 203 and completed by Constantine the Great in AD 330. This was the center of Byzantine public life and the scene of splendid games. Nowadays , there isn’t much of the Hippodrome left to see, except some small section of the gallery walls on the southern side, but at the Meydani park which now stands on the site is home of variety of monuments.
